What is Oxidized Bitumen 85/25
Oxidized bitumen 85/25 grade have uses in all of the waterproofing and coating industries who have projects in very hot weather because its softening point is about 150 °C.
Oxidized bitumen 85/25 produced in bitumen Factory is based on petroleum bitumen which is made by blowing bitumen 60/70 by hot air.
This type of Bitumen is hard and breakable. Oxidized Bitumen is the semi-solid oxidized grade of petroleum bitumen categorized in hydrocarbons is normally used for different purposes in the construction industries.
The quality of Oxidized Bitumen 85/25 with the arrangement of the international inspector to check quality and quantity of the during the loading to the vessel and control the production by QC by batch test report before shipping. Our guarantees the quality to meet with ASTM.
Blown Asphalt 85/25 has a higher softening point than viscosity grade and penetration bitumen. Consequently, oxidized bitumen is less susceptible than penetration bitumen and viscosity bitumen to temperature changes.
How is it produced?
The production process of oxidized bitumen 85/25 is similar to other grades of oxidized bitumen. It involves heating bitumen to a specific temperature, typically around 250-300°C, and then blowing air through it. This process causes oxidation reactions to occur, resulting in a material with increased viscosity, improved aging resistance, and enhanced adhesive properties.
The specific blowing time and air flow rate are carefully controlled to achieve the desired properties of oxidized bitumen 85/25. Once the desired level of oxidation is reached, the material is cooled and solidified into the desired form.
Application of oxidized bitumen 85/25
Blown Bitumen 85/25 is initially in solid form and needs to be heated to approximately 230°C to melt and become usable across various industrial applications. This type of bitumen is widely used in various industries, such as in the chemical industry, for coating bitumen, producing paper pulpboard, textile treatment, road paving, filling cracks, and civil works.
It is also vitally important in applications for pipe coating, roofing, sealing and insulating buildings, additives for construction materials, dust binding, and as insulation and impregnating agents. Bitumen 85/25 is also applicable in the manufacture of isolation bitumen membrane sheets, rubber and plastic products, and adhesives.
Common uses of Bitumen 85/25 include roofing, hydraulic applications, and pipe coating, with significant demand in paint manufacturing and protective coatings, especially in hot climates. For optimal flow and viscosity, oxidized bitumen must be heated to twice its softening point temperature.
Storage and Handling of Oxidized Bitumen 85/25
Blown asphalt 85/25 is best up to 10 years from the day it was manufactured.
It is suggested for higher time of warehouse keeping to keep the bitumen under shelter and out of the rain and sun shine.
Health & Safety of Bitumen 85/25
Care should be taken when heating Oxidized Bitumen 85/25 to avoid overheating. also Workers should wear protective masks, gloves, and goggles during application. please make reference to the relevant MSDS.
Packing of Oxidized Bitumen 85/25
Blown Asphalt 85/25 in various packing, including bitumen 85/25 is available in 20 & 50 Kg Kraft Paper Bags 25 Kg Carton box & 150, 180, 200 Kg Steel Drums:
The most expensive is the 25kg mold packing. This one comes with a removable carton mold that makes shipping rather simple and can be removed with much ease at the destination. The 25kg polyamide bag, being heat-resistant, can cool fast by submerging it directly into water.
However, it is a single-use solution because the polyamide cannot be separated from the bitumen once filled. The 25kg craft bag, on the other hand, is a recyclable packaging solution that has a special inner coating that prevents the bitumen from sticking to the bag. This kind of packaging can be both loaded on pallets or without pallets, depending on the customer’s preference.
