What is Oxidized Bitumen 150/5?
Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 produced in Bitumen Factory is based on petroleum bitumen which is made by blowing bitumen 60/70 by hot air. This type of bitumen is hard and breakable. Oxidized bitumen is the semi-solid oxidized grade of petroleum bitumen categorized in hydrocarbons is normally used for different purposes in the construction industries.
quality of Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 with the arrangement of the international inspector to check quality and quantity of the during the loading to the vessel and control the production by QC by batch test report before shipping.
Oxidized bitumen has a higher softening point than viscosity grade and penetration bitumen.
Consequently, oxidized bitumen is less susceptible than penetration bitumen and viscosity bitumen to temperature changes.
Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 – The Perfect Selection for Industrial Projects in Hot Climates
We are proud of the quality we will be offering at ZUMRUT KIMYA INTERNATIONAL when it comes to Oxidized Bitumen 150/5. With its softening point at about 150°C, this product becomes ideal in construction and industrial projects under extreme heat conditions.

Product Process for Oxidized Bitumen 150/5
Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 is a special type of asphalt produced by an air-blowing process. The feedstock for this process is petroleum bitumen, which is obtained by fractionating crude oil into various fractions. The heavier fractions yield crude bitumen. The raw bitumen is initially heated to a certain temperature, normally about 220-230°C. In this way, the bitumen’s viscosity decreases to a suitable level for blowing with air.
Preheated bitumen is then fed into a reactor, also known as a blowing column or blowing still, whereby hot air is blown into the liquid bitumen. With the introduction of hot air, there is oxidation of the bitumen, hence changing its properties. Subsequent to the oxidation, the product, Oxidized Bitumen 150/5, is cooled with water to reduce the temperature and to arrest the oxidation process. After cooling, the product is packed in different containers, such as barrels, according to the requirements of the target market.
Oxidation is a process where the oxygen within the hot air reacts with the bitumen and changes its chemical structure. The process increases the asphaltene-to-maltene ratio, which improves the softening point and viscosity of the material.
Uses of Blown Bitumen 150/5
This grade of Blown bitumen has used in all of the waterproofing and coating industries that have projects in very hot weather because its softening point is about 150 °C and when they are using Blown Bitumen 150/5 it will not melt in hot weather easily.
This kind of bitumen is suitable to be used in the chemical, raw material for bitumen coat, paper-pulp-board, textile processing, pavement, crack seal and repairmen, civil works, bitumen coat for piping, roofing, construction industries; sealing and insulating buildings, adhesive, construction materials additive, road construction, dust-binding, insulating and impregnating agent, isolation bitumen membrane sheet, make rubber and plastic products.
typical uses for bitumen 150/5 include roofing, pipe coating, hydraulic applications, 150/5 is mainly used in paint manufacturing and coating in hot areas.
Bitumen 150/5 products are for paving, roofing; also used in asphalt-based paints for corrosion protection of metals, inlining public works structures, adhesives in electrical laminates, the base for synthetic turf.
Features and Benefits
High Durability: Resistant to harsh environmental conditions.
Excellent Flexibility: Can serve for a wide range of industrial purposes
Water Resistance: Suitable for all kinds of applications that need waterproofing.
Chemical Stability: Good with consistency over time.
Comparison of Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 and 115/15
Oxidized Bitumen 150/5 has a higher softening point (around 150°C), making it more heat-resistant compared to 115/15, which has a lower softening point of 115°C. This makes 150/5 more suitable for high-temperature applications such as road construction in hot climates, where heat resistance is crucial.
In contrast, 115/15 offers more flexibility due to its lower softening point, making it ideal for roofing and areas where moderate flexibility and heat resistance are needed. These differences influence their respective use cases in various industrial applications.
