Cutback Bitumen SC-250

Description of Cutback Bitumen SC-250

Cutback Bitumen SC-250 is a slow-curing asphalt used in pavement construction and treatment. It is composed of penetration grade asphalt cement and a slow-volatility diluent or cutter, meeting ASTM D2028-97 specifications. SC-250 and SC-70 are cutback asphalts that resemble residual refinery products, commonly used as heavy fuel oils. They are also known as “road oils.”

SC-250 is dissolved in solvents of kerosene, which is added as a cutter or cutback agent to reduce the viscosity of bitumen. This reduces the bitumen’s viscosity, aiding in the construction of seal coats in road pavements. The cutback agent evaporates from the seal coat, becoming a negligible component a few months after application. However, significant amounts of the cutback agent may result in an unwanted long-term softening effect.

Cutback Bitumen SC-250 Application

SC250 is a long-lasting solution bitumen used in the road construction industry for manufacturing factory cold asphalt, base, liner, and topping for continuous grading. It is commonly used in bitumen spraying and dust binder dusting. The application time and type of bitumen should be considered before ordering.

SC250 is commonly used for stockpile patching mixes, mixing with aggregate, as a prime coat, and cold-applied as it doesn’t require thinning or heating, saving time. It can also be used to waterproof surfaces, plug voids, and coat and bond loose mineral particles. It is important to consider the time and type of application before ordering bitumen.

Packing

Packing of this grade bulk in tanker and also in new steel and thick drum on pallet to prevent all leak inside of container.
