Bitumen 50/70

General description of Bitumen 50/70

Penetration Grade Bitumen 50/70 supplied by ZUMRUT KIMYA Co. is petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from fractional / vacuum distillation of crude oil. bitumen are specified by the penetration and softening point test. The designation is by penetration range only. The penetration grade bitumen has a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures.

Penetration grade bitumen 50/70 has penetration between 50~70 desi-millimeter and softening point between 52 ~ 58C. The penetration grade has a thermoplastic property which is like as synthetic resin material which gets softer with heating and hardens when cooled. This grade of bitumen 50/70 has very strong viscosity compare to other grades.

Bitumen 50/70 Formulation

Bitumen 50/70 is known by some formula according to application in industries such as:

Elementally, it contains 87% carbon and around 8% hydrogen, and other chemical contents are up to 5% sulfur, 1% nitrogen, 1% oxygen and 2000ppm metals.

Bitumen Products are composed mainly of highly condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

Application of Bitumen grade 50/70

This grade of bitumen is also mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt. also, Bitumen is suitable for road construction and repair for asphalt pavements with superior properties. Bitumen is used for hot mixed asphalt because of the properties of very strong viscosity compared to other grades. Also used in specialized applications like airport runways and also in very heavy traffic volume roads in coastal cities in the country.

Difference between 50/70 and 70/100.

The viscosity of bitumen 50/70 is greater than that of bitumen 70/100, reducing the workability and compaction ability of bituminous mixtures. When bitumen was employed, the cohesive force in the mix increased significantly, increasing stability values for all binder concentrations.

Guaranty of Bitumen penetration 50/70

The quality of bitumen penetration grade with the arrangement of the international inspector to check the quality and quantity of the bitumen penetration grade during the loading to the vessel and control the production by QC by batch test report before shipping.

Packing of Bitumen 50/70

Bitumen grade is commonly packed in new steel drums, 150, 180 & 220 Kg barrels and Jumbo Bags or Bitubag and 10 & 20kg Tubular carton.
