Applications The most common application of bitumen VG-30 is basically in constructing heavy duty Bitumen pavement projects that must withstand a significant traffic load. Also, VG30 is widespread in road construction, waterproofing, building construction subsidiary and also in cutback bitumen production. It can be a replacement for 60/70 Penetration grade as well.
It is the most suitable for using in hot and rainy weather which can cause many problems in paving and also a good choice for mild regions.
Difference Between Bitumen VG30 & VG40
The main difference between Bitumen VG30 and VG40 is their viscosity level, which determines their performance at different temperature levels. Bitumen VG30 is less viscous compared to VG40 and is thus more suitable for moderate climates, where it provides both good workability and resistance to fatigue cracking.
On the other hand, VG40 is more viscous, offering greater resistance to rutting under heavy traffic and warmer climates as it is stronger and stiffer under high temperatures. Both these grades offer excellent performance in terms of long-term durability, but VG40 is normally used for more severe applications that require better temperature stability and increased stiffness.
