Introduction
As Tunisia continues to invest in infrastructure, transportation, and urbanization, the need for a trusted bitumen supplier in Tunisia has never been greater.
Bitumen is a critical part of road construction, waterproofing, and industrial applications, and the correct supplier is at the heart of any project’s success and longevity.
We are proud to be a trusted bitumen supplier in Tunisia, providing the highest quality products that are suited for the country’s unique environmental and project conditions.
Bitumen Uses in Tunisia’s Climate
Tunisia has a Mediterranean climate in the north, with hot, dry summers and cool winters, while the southern region is semi-arid and desert.
These climatic conditions significantly influence the selection of bitumen grades to be applied in the following uses:
Road Construction and Paving
In northern coastal cities like Tunis, Sousse, and Bizerte, where moderate climates prevail, Penetration Grade Bitumen 60/70 is generally used in flexible pavement structures.
This grade ensures good performance against moderate temperature variations.
In the southern region of the country, like Gabès or Tataouine, where the summer temperature exceeds 45°C, a harder bitumen like Penetration Grade 40/50 is recommended.
This enables the asphalt to be stable and resistant to rutting at high traffic and temperatures.
Waterproofing and Roofing
Oxidized Bitumen 85/25 or 90/15 is traditionally used in building works that are exposed to direct sunlight and intermittent heavy rain due to its excellent weather resistance and thermal stability.
Industrial and Special Projects
Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) is recommended in high-stress highways, airport, and bridge deck constructions to impart improved elasticity and resistance to deformation.
By selecting the appropriate grade of bitumen according to the surrounding environment, project owners can significantly extend the life of their investments.
Major Bitumen Import and Export Ports in Tunisia
To facilitate the distribution of bitumen within Tunisia and the neighboring countries with ease, proximity to major ports is essential.
The main seaports for bitumen imports are:
Port of Rades (near Tunis)
The country’s main commercial port, ideal for large quantities of bitumen import.
Port of Sfax
A key southern Tunisia port, strategically located for inland project coverage.
Port of Bizerte
Accepts industrial cargo, including construction material like bitumen.
Port of Gabès
Serves southern and inland areas, crucial for projects near desert regions.
With our logistics services, we enable quick and secure bitumen deliveries through these main gateways.
Price of Bitumen in Tunisia
The price of bitumen in Tunisia is influenced by several key factors, including fluctuations in crude oil prices, ocean freight costs, the price of vacuum bottom (VB), and the type of packaging used. Among the different bitumen grades, the price of bitumen 60/70 serves as the benchmark, as it is the lowest and forms the base price for other grades. The price of cutback bitumen, on the other hand, depends on the cost of its primary raw materials.
Our payment Term
Our terms of payment are TT/30% in advance and balance after a copy of BL. This secures 30% of the payment in advance while the remaining balance is settled when a copy of the Bill of Lading has been availed, ensuring goods are in transit and well documented.
