Australian Grade Bitumen C450

Description

Australian Grade Bitumen C450 is specifically engineered for high-stress areas and regions with intense heat. Engineers use this bitumen to construct asphalt pavements for roads, crossings, and industrial zones. Due to its high viscosity, C450 resists softening and deformation. As a result, it performs exceptionally well in areas with heavy traffic and high temperatures.

Bitumen C450 has the best resistance to heat, hence suitable for use in the harshest weather conditions. It has been used in northern Australia, tropical, and desert areas. These areas need roads that can bear the extreme heat and stresses. C450 prevents surface rutting and distortion, hence assurance of long-lasting pavement quality.

Application of Australian Grade Bitumen C450

Bitumen C450 is normally used by engineers in extremely hot and highly stressed areas. It is very efficient in northern Australia, tropical, and desert areas. In such areas, the roads face extreme heat and a high volume of traffic loads. C450 is resistant to high temperatures and sustains road integrity under these unfriendly conditions.

Additionally, there is an application of Bitumen C450 in both sprayed sealing and light asphalt applications. The material increases durability, resistance to fatigue. This type of bitumen also serves as an effective binder in hot-mix asphalts applied to highways, airports, parking lots, and drives. In addition, it used in the production of cutback, emulsion and modified bitumen.

Australian Grade Bitumen C320 & C450

Australian Grade Bitumen C320 and C450 differ mainly in terms of viscosity, stiffness, and heavy load carrying capacity. C320 is thinner than C450 and therefore applied on highways, city roads, and airport pavement where the level of durability is high and flexibility is moderate. C450 is a much stiffer and more viscous bitumen applied under harsh traffic conditions, heavy traffic pavements, and areas with hot weather conditions. The higher stiffness of C450 enhances deformation and rut resistance and is therefore appropriate for conditions where increased load-carrying capacity and strength are required. The choice between C320 and C450 will depend on traffic conditions, climatic conditions, and pavement performance requirements.

International Standards

Australian Grade Bitumen C450 is produced according to international standards to ensure that it meets the technical requirements for road and infrastructure construction. AS 2008 prescribes the construction specifications of bitumen, whereas AS/NZS 2341 prescribes the testing methods for determining the critical properties of viscosity, softening point, and penetration to ensure that C450 meets performance specifications. The bitumen is also compliant with AASHTO M 320 performance grading, which ensures that it satisfies various environmental requirements. Compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 also ensures production of the C450 grade under tight quality control and environmentally sound conditions.

Packing

Australian Grade Bitumen C450 comes in durable drums with a thickness of 0.6 mm and a net weight of 182 kg. Each drum measures 95 cm in height and 45 cm in diameter. The packaging includes an operational tolerance of +/- 3 kg, ensuring consistent quality.

Specification

We produce Bitumen C450 according to Australian standards (AS 2008). It is one of the most commonly used grades in asphalt construction, particularly in tropical regions. Its heat resistance and long-lasting performance make it perfect for demanding conditions.
