Bitumen AC20 Descriptions
Bitumen AC20 is a viscosity grade bitumen. Asphalt cement grade (AC) bitumen is one of the primary types of viscosity grade bitumen. This is a The majority of AC binders are used in hot applied surface treatments, however they also have additional applications such as pre-coating, tack coat, and recycling.
The AC nomenclature uses numbers to represent the stiffness or viscosity of the asphalt. As the number increases, the binder becomes stiffer/harder.
Polymer additives are designated (SBR for styrene-butadiene rubber, P for styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer, and TR for tire rubber). Asphalt cement application temperatures range from 300°F to 400°F, particularly for higher viscosity grades.
Bitumen AC20 Applications
Bitumen AC20 is a versatile alternative that may be used in a variety of applications, particularly in areas with moderate climates. Its applications include:
- Road construction projects, particularly in moderate climates.
- Production of asphalt primer and waterproofing materials.
- Creating hot mix asphalt for bases, pavements, and road building.
- Making bitumen emulsions, cutback bitumen, and modified bitumen grades.
Packaging, Handling and Storage
Packaging: Typically packaged in barrels or tanks to maintain product integrity.
Handling: Adhere to safety protocols and use appropriate equipment to avoid accidents and spills.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources to preserve properties and prolong shelf life.
